THE INSPIRATION

Confectioner image

We all come from somewhere.

We can trace our origins to the people, places & food that connect us.

We all have those people in our lives that we'll remember forever, and that we want to tell stories about to make our friends laugh.

Those people that we remember most fondly across the dinner table sharing a favorite dish, common laughter, and a full glass of wine.

ORIGIN STORIES chocolate bars are nods to those people & memories in our female founder Lauren's life.

We hope that you enjoy the funny stories, and especially the chocolate. And in doing so, we hope you create some nostalgia of your own.

The Stories

No. 1 Fan
- the origin story -

My mom, it turns out, has the gift of larger than life enthusiasm. A collegiate gymnast turned fitness professional, she opened an aerobics studio in the 1980s, ripe with spandex, high kicks and bouncing energy.

When I was born, she closed her studio and subsequently carried her Richard Simmons energy to every childhood soccer game, to parent cheerleading-pyramids, and to carpool rides where she wore fake buck teeth and drove around the neighborhood's circle drive like a crazed eighty-year-old.

When I think of my mom, I imagine her mid-high kick rallying the troops to cheer on a gaggle of children. These days she just shows up at Markham & Fitz to order four chocolate tarts for herself, a specific and now expected allocation.

This bar, although far from simple, speaks of comfort like home and is dutifully named after my No. 1 Fan. Share this enthusiastic oat & coconut milk chocolate with your No. 1 Fan.
